Dumpster Rental in Columbus, Ohio
Whether you are a resident or business, booking a dumpster rental in Columbus, Ohio can save you a lot of bother. While it is possible to remove debris from your property after a major project yourself, renting a roll-off dumpster will certainly save you time, physical labor, and likely a major headache.
Multiple sizes and types of dumpsters are available from various Columbus dumpster rental companies so you will surely find the dumpster that fits your needs. A haulage service will take care of dropping off the dumpster at your address then picking it up after an allotted number of days to dispose of its load at the nearest landfill. Doing all of this without the help of a dumpster service would be a whole lot of work!
If roll-off dumpsters are too big to fit your needs, some companies also offer “mini roll-off dumpsters”, smaller containers that will save you space and money if you are working on a smaller project. Depending on your location you may need a permit so be sure to check with your local waste management or permit office to see if you need to take that extra step.
Listen carefully to your dumpster rental representative for the rules of renting a dumpster – sort your debris evenly throughout the dumpster, never move the dumpster after it has been placed, and never fill it with hazardous materials. These are just a few universal rules so it is best to become more familiar with the other restrictions before receiving your rental.
Additional charges can occur when the dumpster is moved, the weight limit is ignored, or debris hangs out of the dumpster. A good rule of thumb is to not fill your dumpster more than 75% of its capacity so you can be assured that the dumpster will get covered properly and make it to the landfill safely.
Construction dumpster rentals that have a higher threshold for weight limits are also available for projects that require the disposal of heavier materials such as asphalt and brick.
Columbus Dumpster Rates
If this is your first time looking for a Columbus dumpster rental then you would probably like to know how much it will cost to rent a dumpster. Of course, prices are not fixed from one haulage company or dumpster size to another, so you can expect to receive various different rates depending on the particular waste removal service use. As price-conscious as you may be, you should bear in mind that price really is not everything. You also want to make sure that the dumpster company does a quality job without leaving behind any unwanted circumstances. So bear this in mind as you compare rates.

Better Choice & Bigger Savings!
As was briefly mentioned previously, finding a dependable and consistent dumpster company should also be a priority in your rental process. Be sure that the company is licensed, has no hidden fees, and will guide you in choosing the right dumpster; after all, renting a dumpster is not an everyday experience! It is best to let professionals direct you. Call multiple companies to find a quote that works best for you, but remember to factor in different pickup and drop-off fees, rental periods, and landfill fees – the flat rate for a dumpster may not be the entire charge billed to you.
Some companies are also greener than others, meaning they will sort your recyclable waste materials and take them to a recycling facility for you. Always ask if there is a weight limit on your dumpster and what penalties can occur if you go over.
Using a reliable dumpster company will make the entire waste removal process easier than if you were to hire the services a dumpster from an irresponsible company. It will also save you costs, property damage, and the hassle of a stressful removal process than the renovation or cleaning project itself.
To be on the safe side you should always check that the dumpster company you are considering is licensed at the very least and has multiple good reviews. Illegal or incorrect waste removal can result in fines, charges, and possibly even a felony so you will not regret choosing a reputable company that knows what it is doing. Make sure you do your research (and well) before renting from any particular remover.

Appliances are accepted at $20 per appliance but the Freon must be removed from the appliance by a licensed Freon recycler.
Hazardous Wastes
Consider purchasing items that are nonhazardous, but if it cannot be avoided the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) provides free disposal of household hazardous waste (HHW) to its residents. The center is located at the below address.
645 E. 8th Avenue
Columbus, Ohio 43201
Telephone: 614-294-1300
Opening Hours:
Wed 12:00 – 18:00
Thurs 09:00 – 17:00
Fri 12:00 – 18:00
The facility is closed on holidays but normally operates during the above times. Mobile collection events are also held on an occasional basis so check with SWACO to find when and where the next event will be held.
Residents can bring their flammable adhesives, reactive items, corrosives, toxics, smoke detectors and helium tanks, thermostats, items containing mercury, and fats, oils, and greases. For a complete list of acceptable items, refer to the website above or call the facility. The disposal for oil-based paint is available at no extra charge and water-based paint can be disposed of for $1 per can (any size). Items not accepted at this facility include tires, asbestos, appliances, ammunition, trash, needles, medical waste, and pharmaceuticals. Water soluble materials include water-based paints and latex, and are not regarded as hazardous. To solidify left over latex paint, sawdust, paint hardeners, or cat littler may be added to the unused product. The lid may also be left off to speed up the drying process and once dried it can be disposed of with your regular trash.
Reusable Debris
In addition to curbside recycling in some communities, SWACO provides co-mingled recycling drop-off dumpsters throughout Franklin County for public use. The dumpsters are free to the public and over two hundred are located at Columbus City Schools plus many fire stations, grocery stores, and Metro Parks. For a complete list of drop-off locations view here.
Using such facility could better ensure that any recyclable items you have do not get misplaced in a Columbus Ohio dumpster rental.
Accepted materials include plastic containers #1-7; clear, brown, green, and blue glass bottles and jars; newspapers, magazines, phone books, brown grocery bags, junk mail, corrugated cardboard, and office paper; gable-top containers and paperboard containers containing items such as milk and juice; empty cans (aluminum, steel, tin and aerosol), and aluminum foil. These items should be rinsed before recycling to prevent contamination.
Items not accepted for recycling are plastic containers that do not have a bottle neck or a base larger than the top (yogurt cups, butter tubs, toys, bags, etc); ceramics, window or drinking glass, light bulbs, any glass not in the shape of a bottle or jar; paper cups, plates, cartons, tissues, etc.; Styrofoam; drink pouches made of or lined with foil and plastic; steel scraps, coat hangers, and other metals that are not in the shape of a container. If you are ever unsure about whether an item can be recycled be sure to ask; if you dump a non-recyclable in a recycling bin you will contaminate the entire load and make the other items non-recyclable as well.
In addition to the recycling program, Columbus has a national award-winning compost facility that uses yard waste and sludge from the waste water treatment process to create compost as well as to generate electricity and natural gas. In 2011, over 140,000 tons of waste was given a beneficial reuse through these programs. The city has recycled old asphalt for use in berms, moved entire bridges to give them new use on trails, salvaged brick from demolition projects to pave streets and more. The city code also requires at least 25% of C&D debris to be recycled.
